SPOTTED
IN FRANCE
by Gregory Edmont
Gregory Edmont is a young American writer living in Paris.
When he adopts a sophisticated Dalmatian named JP, he is no longer
considered an outsider and his life is suddenly charmed: He's met
with smiles every time he and JP step out, acquaintances become
friends, and the City of Lights becomes home. But the road
beckons—and a magical journey ensues—when
they receive a call from the eccentric Dalmatian breeder, Madame
Clix: JP's services are needed to sire a litter in the south of
France.
Greg and JP start out with a leisurely
dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant in the French countryside,
with JP enjoying his own special delicacy. The adventures
begin: with a near-arrest, as the French authorities question the
legality of a two-wheeling dog. They escape, but the roller
coaster of a journey includes a breakdown or two, a coven of witches
(who possess scooter-repairing skills), a cleaver-bearing
butcher, a gourmet priest, and many other endearing characters. When they finally
arrive at their destination—an unexpected land of enchantment—they discover the power of love...in
an equally unexpected way.
SPOTTED IN FRANCE
is entertainment at its very best: Amusing and poignant, it examines
the roles of fate and serendipity in our lives and offers an intimate
glimpse of six regions and a dozen towns and villages in France—their
people, their dogs, their food, and their hearts.
